Validation
Note: This movie is kinda long.
Here's the thing. I love this movie. I think it shows some things that we often forget to do. Do we pay attention to the people around us and compliment them for the great that they are and for the good things that they do? Do we try to make the world around us a little bit better or do we just meander through life with little or no thought for the people we interact with? Do we realize the good that is in our world and smile because of it?
At the end of the movie the main character finds beauty in a woman's eyes. He tells her how gorgeous her eyes are, how gorgeous she is and finds her smile by asking her to talk about what she loves more than anything in the world. When you look in someone's eyes you can learn a lot about them. You can see their light, their pain, their joy. So take a second, actually look at the people around. Get your face out of your phone, your iPod, your textbooks. Look up. What are the people around you thinking and feeling. Do they need you? And when you look up what will people see on your face? A smile?
We may have created a world filled with all the conveniences we think we could ever need but at the end of the day I don't think we can do it without each other. We all need help. So if you need help, ask. And if you see someone in need, help them.
